In-house Lawyer/Team Leader role
Our client an in-house firm based in the city has an opening for an Asset Finance Lawyer with the desire to be a team lead.They are seeking passionate, resourceful and collaborative people to join them. If you're motivated about leveraging technology to make essential business services more accessible then this role may be of interest to you.This role is within the Legal team and will involve working directly with: (a) investment teams at some of the world’s largest private equity and debt funds, financial institutions and corporates as they explore transaction opportunities in relation to asset finance, and (b) key stakeholder. This role will suit an experienced legal professional (whether a career paralegal, attorney or associate) who might be considering a position within a legal team focused on asset finance at a law firm, investment bank, fund or asset management company. This person will also have strong commercial acumen and existing relationships within the asset finance vertical. Duties involve:
Scope out and effectively structure a go-to-market plan for the asset finance vertical within both our managed services and software limb.
Proactively work with relevant heads of department to embed the GTM structure within our strategy.
Outreach to target companies which may be interested in our offering and leverage your existing network to progress the GTM strategy.
Structure, hire and lead a legal team to provide an outstanding service to the clients within the asset finance vertical (“your Pod”).
Oversee the review and negotiation of documents within your Pod, including reviewing the work of team members and providing effective feedback. To the extent necessary, you should be able to pick up and review any client playbook or contract accurately (regardless of familiarity) whilst training your team.
Sign off on all new client playbooks drafted, ensuring they are consistent with our in-house guidelines, format and structure.
Review and assist junior, mid and senior Legal team members with their professional development and ongoing training.
Ensure regular training of Pod team members that assist in leading client accounts and staff all prospective trials efficiently.
Effectively manage the capacity of your Pod, including regular check-ins to identify and action any areas for improvement.
Identify, formulate and deliver high quality solutions to difficult situations (whether posed by internal stakeholders, clients or counterparties).
Assist with various projects involving the direct management of the Legal team within your Pod.
Serve as account manager for all matters relating to relevant asset finance clients. This includes joining regular check-ins, dealing with complaints, conducting partnership / playbook reviews and leading on monthly Customer Success and Legal meetings.
Assist with general BAU tasks within the Legal team (including capacity planning, client coverage, deadline compliance and team-wide updates). Qualifications You will have at least 4 years’ experience drafting, reviewing and negotiating the core transactional documents regularly encountered by our clients within the asset finance vertical. You will have client-facing and direct management experience and will have previously worked with private equity, asset management or hedge fund clients, or in a venture-backed technology scale-up (legal tech is a plus but not required), whether in-house, at a service provider or at a law firm, and will understand typical asset finance transaction structures and timelines.
You will have a broad knowledge of market trends within the asset finance industry and will ideally have garnered experience specifically within aviation finance. You will enjoy taking the initiative and seeking answers to interesting practical and legal issues, including proactively managing and improving teams and processes.
You will be both technical and commercial, both in the practice of law and outside of it.
You will have assisted in drafting and implementing go-to-market strategies, with a strong focus on deep discovery and customer delight.
You will be interested in developing your client management skills at a faster pace than might be possible elsewhere, and ideally, you’ll be looking forward to taking ownership of some of relevant client relationships.
